losing zeros at the biginning of zipcodes

This is probably a pretty elemental question concerning .csv files, but here goes.  Everytime I save a csv file of my customers any zipcodes that begin with a 0, the 0 disappears.  How do I save the customer file and preserve the correct zip codes for states that begin with a 0?

Re: losing zeros at the biginning of zipcodes

Can you upload data as an .xls file if you change the configuration in the file mapings in the cloud to customers.xls?  Otherwise I see no way to get good zip codes from New Jersy or other states that begin their codes with a 0.

Re: losing zeros at the biginning of zipcodes

The upload process doesn't currently handle .XLS files. This is something that we are looking into.

If working in Excel, I recommend maintaining your "master" customer list as an .XLS file, with columns that you wish to retain leading zeros formatted as text. Whenever you wish to upload a new customer file save a copy of your master as a .CSV file and upload that, but continue working and maintaining your master data in the .XLS file.
