Order duplication

On our cloud account their has been duplicated orders from one of our users. One is order number 2 then 3 have order number 3. Are you able to see why this has happened?

Re: Order duplication

Order number 2 and one of the order number 3's are genuine orders from the iPad. Nothing has gone wrong here. The rep has either used the Copy order option on order number 2 or created it again from scratch (I imagine it's the former).

As far as the duplicate order number 3's go I would say there was a comms glitch/interruption at the time of uploading. The upload cycle is:

1. iPad sends an order to the cloud account.
2. The cloud account responds to the iPad that it has got the order.
3. The iPad marks the order as exported (preventing it from being exported again).

We know that step 1 above happened since the orders were created in the cloud account. Something failed during step 2. The rep will have received an information message saying that the upload failed so they tried again.

Currently, the cloud account doesn't detect that it is receiving a duplicate order. Now that we have recently added the concept of a unique database number we should be able to detect this so we'll tighten up the checks to prevent the duplicates from being created.

Re: Order duplication

This user has tried to upload to the cloud on 3 occassions and it keeps sending the same order to the Cloud. There is also at least one order that is live that cannot be uploaded.

Re: Order duplication

Get the user to put that order on hold (to prevent it from being uploaded) then see if the remaining order/s can be uploaded ok.

Re: Order duplication

We have now found the cause of the order duplication problem.

Please see the following topic for details: http://www.bacapps.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?id=173

We believe that Sales Presenter would have been crashing each time your rep tried to upload the order - providing as much information as you can when reporting an issue can be very useful and help us resolve the issue as quickly and efficiently as possible.
