Hi,
We've been using family codes set up via the ProductFamilyCodes file.
I now want to switch to applying family codes via the Products file instead.
I've tried deleting the ProductFamilyCodes file and then uploading a new Products file with the family codes fields completed, but it doesn't seem to have worked. Even after running a Download from Cloud I'm still seeing all the old family codes that are not yet in the Products file (I've tried including just a small number of completed family codes in the product file to start with as I wanted to check it was working as I'd expect before spending time completing all of my family codes).
I then selected 'force a full download', but after the message 'this may take some time, are you sure' and selecting 'yes' nothing seems to happen. Do I just select 'force a full download' and then 'Download from Cloud' straight after (I did this, but wasn't 100% sure that was correct?)
Generally I'm finding that the 'family codes' are not working as I'd expect & are a little temperamental as to whether they show up - maybe it's just because it's now got a mix of data from the old ProductFamilyCodes file and the latest Products file. Please can you help?
Thanks,
Jo

There were still records present in your cloud account that were uploaded against the Product Family Codes file type. We've removed these from the cloud database for you.
Please perform another Force Full Download followed by a Download From Cloud on each of your devices to correct the product family code data on them.
You should then be ok moving forward.

Thanks for coming back to me. I've performed another Force Full Download and then a Download by cloud as you suggest and now no categories are showing at all?
Thanks,
Jo

Now that your family codes are in your product file make sure you've set up the field mappings for these fields against the product file. Then you can perform a Process files on the cloud followed by a normal download on your iPad.

Thanks, please can you clarify the field mappings process? The FamilyCodes file has already been uploaded. I followed the instructions in your documentation section (http://www.bacapps.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?id=94), but nothing mentions field mappings specifically?

You need to go into File Mappings in your cloud account and then access the Field Mappings for your Product file. From there you can map the columns for your Family Code fields from your csv file by using the drop-down menus.
As mentioned in our previous post, you will then need to perform a Process files on the cloud followed by a normal download on your iPad.

That's great, thanks for your help - all working as I'd hoped now.

After a recent upload of data to the cloud, we are no longer able to see the entire list of Product Categories on the iPad app even though we have the correctly configured Family Codes template uploaded and the corresponding Product Family Codes templates. Also, is there a way to display the list in a specific order other then the default - alphabetically? Please let us know.

Update...I have since found the reference to the sequence for family codes and configured our Family Codes template to reflect the specific display sequence. However, even this does not show the correct sequence or all of the family codes we have in the Family Codes template. It also shows a different display of product categories for our catalogues as if it is being pulled form a different data file. Please review our data and let us know what might be the issue.

Another update...I have since read a similar post from another client and it appears that our family codes do not match the codes we have in our Product Family Codes template. So, we are going to correct this and confirm if this resolve the issue. Also, it appears that the product categories display is specific to the family codes of the products in the catalogue, which is not showing up correctly because we do not have matching family codes in the 2 related templates.

I have cleaned up the 2 templates and now the Family Codes template and Product Family Codes templates match what we wish to have display on the iPad app. However, after the latest upload, processing of the files and download of the data, we are still missing 2 family codes ( product categories ) - Pump Kits and Releases. Can you please review our data and let us know what might be causing the issue?

We can see that since your last post you have updated both your Family Code and Product Family Code CSV files and processed them on the cloud.
It sounds like you hadn't referenced the Pump Kits and Releases family codes in your Family Code CSV file but this is no longer an issue in your current uploaded files. Does this mean you have managed to resolve your family code problems?

Yes, after my last post we finally managed to get the family codes to display correctly in the Product Categories on our iPads. It would not work until we forced a full download, even though we confirmed the correct configuration of the CSV templates and the upload of the correct data files to the Cloud. What was not working correctly was the download to the iPad. We ran the download several times but the changes were not successfully being downloaded until we forced a full download.

You seem to be experiencing a timing issue. When maintaining your product family codes in a separate file to your products, you need to ensure that you are keeping the two files in sync. In other words, if you add a product to the Product Family Codes file, you should also add the product to the Products file and ensure that both files are processed at the same time on the cloud.
In your case, we can see that you uploaded a new Product Family Codes file that contained some new products, processed the files on your cloud account, and performed a download on your device. You then uploaded a new Products file that contained the new products, processed the files on your cloud account and performed another download. Doing this has caused the new product family code information to be downloaded but not associated to a product. If you do this, you can rectify the issue on your device by performing a Force a Full Download followed by a Download from Cloud.
We usually recommend users maintain their family codes within the Products CSV file to avoid the issue described above. I think this would be beneficial in your case.
