One of the main factors that app developers need to take into consideration is the amount of memory usage that their app needs.
While an iPad may have 16, 32 or 64GB of storage space this does not relate to the amount of memory the device has in which to run both the operating system and any apps. For instance, the first generation iPad has 256MB of memory. The iPad2 has 512MB of memory. The third and fourth generation iPads have 1GB of memory.
Below is a screenshot showing typical available memory on a first generation iPad before any apps are running:
The iPad is reporting its total memory as 246MB and available/free as 88.5MB.
After loading up the Safari, Email and AppStore apps, the available memory has dropped to 3.8MB:
So, the iPad is already running low on memory before Sales Presenter has been loaded.
While we are constantly trying to reduce the memory usage that Sales Presenter needs you can see that, while running several apps at the same time, there isn't much memory available in the first place.
When the available memory is getting very low, Sales Presenter will warn you (the majority of apps will simply crash out). This gives you the opportunity to close any other apps that are still running in the background on the iPad in order to free up some memory. If you continue to get repeated low memory messages then you should close all apps (including Sales Presenter) then restart the app.
