I am right in assuming that when downloading data from X-suite, sales presenter can only use 'family codes' as opposed to 'web tree view'?

Yes, Sales Presenter allows up to five product category (family code) filters per product. For users of the X~Suite back-office system, these fields can be mapped to the five family code fields output by X~Suite.
Sales Presenter does not work with the web tree view feature in X~Suite. That feature is for use on e-commerce websites that have a real-time interface with X~Suite.
